THE AEROPRESS is a relatively modern coffee brewing method invented by Alan Adler in 2005. Adler, a Stanford University engineering instructor, sought to create a simple, fast, and efficient way to brew a single cup of coffee. Dissatisfied with the slow extraction process of drip coffee makers and the bitterness of over-extracted espresso, he designed the AeroPress to provide a balanced cup with speed and ease of use. His creation quickly gained popularity, particularly within the specialty coffee community, due to its portability, versatility, and ability to produce rich, flavorful coffee with minimal bitterness.

Unique Features of the AeroPress
1. Versatility: The AeroPress is incredibly flexible in terms of brewing parameters. You can adjust variables such as grind size, water temperature, brew time, and pressure to achieve different flavor profiles.
2. Portability: Its compact size and durable plastic construction make it ideal for travel.
3. Brewing Process: Unlike other methods, the AeroPress uses a combination of immersion and pressure to extract coffee. This hybrid process is unique and allows for a fast brew time (around 1-2 minutes) with controlled extraction.
4. Clean Taste: The AeroPress uses a paper or metal filter, resulting in a clean cup with minimal sediment.
The 2024 Swiss and World AeroPress Championships
The WAC started in 2008 as a fun, grassroots competition for coffee enthusiasts to showcase their skills and creativity with this brewing method. What began as a small gathering has grown into a global event with national competitions held in over 60 countries.
This year, Konstantin Golubev @every.coffee.i.drink, represented Switzerland at the WAC 24 in Lisbon. He reached the 4th place over 60 partiicpants which is the best score ever obtained by a Swiss AeroPress champion !
The winner is George Stanica – Romania @george_e_st
